Colorado Blizzard

My friend Chris Little who lives in Colorado sent these pictures yesterday so we could see just how much snow they got. He says they were at 30" (thats right folks 2 1/2 feet) in 24 hours! They had to cancel their Christmas plans becuase they couldn't make it out of their driveway (or down their street for that matter) to make their 7 hour trip to visit his wife's family! We hope they have a wonderful, white and warm Christmas!

Happy Birthday to Sasha

Yesterday was my cousin Chris' 34th birthday (ha ha..old man)..I can't believe that we are so old now. The other night on the Disney channel, we watched the Fox and the Hound with Zachary. It brought back so many memories of my cousin Chris that it almost felt like we were 7 and 9 again. We went to see the Fox and the Hound the summer of 1981 when my family was visiting his family in Hawaii. We went with his younger brother (my other cousin obviously), Kevin and if my memory serves me, their older brother Shawn (Zachary's godfather) took us (and I am sure he was thrilled with that).

Anyway, we all really enjoyed that movie and for the remainder of our visit (i think we were there for like 3 weeks or so), we "acted out" the movie. I remember it like it happened yesterday and I can't believe we are now in our 30's, we are married, homeowners with children! Yikes!!! But, whenever I hear that song...you know the one...."we're the best of friends...havin' so much fun together", I can't help but smile and think of my cousin Chris.

Happy birthday to you Sasha!!! I love you! ~alexis :)

Molars

We have always thought we got really lucky when we gave birth to a beautiful child that NEVER put anything in his mouth that wasn't supposed to be there. He has made it through almost 2 full years of life without ever putting little toys or trinkets from off of the floor in his mouth for exploration. He never sucked his thumb and never took a pacifier. He drooled a bit when he was teething and he wouldn't even put a teething ring in his mouth to help with the discomfort (we felt bad for him then).

Well, all of this has changed. After weeks of drooling and parental speculation, the 2 year molars have made an appearance on the bottom of little Zach's mouth. And now, he is a drooling mess that can't keep his fingers out of his mouth. It really is quite disgusting. And, either he is practicing for college fraternity stunts or the molars are really bothering him because at times, he is able to fit his entire hand in his mouth. It is amazing. Must be a boy thing.

*sigh* this is just another phase on this incredible journey called life/parenthood and I've never been one to rush out of any stage Zach has gone through but man am I ready for the drooling and chewing to stop!!!

British Invasion

Ok, not really an invasion but our dear friend, Paul, was here on holiday for a few days and we were able to spend some time with him! Always a good time and we are sad to see him go but are hopeful that maybe the Engel family can make it across to visit him in 2007! We hung out with Paul, Marcus and Lisa at the Conigliaro's Christmas party last night and then again for a cup of tea this afternoon. Great to see him...as always.

Yippie for Dave

Well, after weeks of long hours at work, I am happy to announce that the JSF successfully made it in the air yesterday for about a 40 minute flight! Yippie for Dave and the rest of his team!! :) This certainly is just the beginning but very very exciting for us!

Giving it a try

So...after reading several of our friends "blogs", we decided that this would be a fun thing to do to keep everyone up on the happenings in the world of "Team Engel"! Zachary is sleeping soundly while Dave is watching a marathon of Heavy Metal history on tv and I am learning all about this blog stuff. I hope you enjoy, I hope you visit often. You know me so you can trust that things will be kept up to date here. I will still be adding photos to our myphotoalbum account too but this is fun just to share info about our lives (if you care to know :) )
